CampbellReith’s multidisciplinary team worked on the office development at 67 Lombard Street – one of the oldest streets in the City of London.
This £30m project included demolishing the building to basement level while retaining the facades on Lombard Street and Birchin Lane.
Part of the works included strengthening of the existing basement walls and the EDF substation.
To ensure support for the structural steel frame, CampbellReith proposed reinforced concrete floor slabs on metal decking for the basement foundation. The stability of the building was ensured by using concrete walls for the lift shaft and main stairwell.
The project rejuvenated a classic City building, maintaining its traditional red brick façade while providing a modern glass and steel extension.
