CampbellReith has recently provided land quality and geotechnical appraisals for Veolia on a £200m Energy Recovery facility located in Heysham, Lancashire, which has now received planning permission. The project is an innovative step towards combating excessive waste – annually processing up to 160,000 tonnes of refuse into energy which is sufficient to power 60,000 homes. On a site which was once part of the former ICI and TRIMPELL works (previously used to manufacture high octane aviation fuel for spitfires), the development will incorporate deep bunkers/basements, turbine halls, and tall structures. For further information on the project see: https://www.veolia.co.uk/heysham/.

CampbellReith has large specialist contaminated land and geotechnical teams working on a range of commercial, residential and industrial projects. For further information please contact James Clay, Simon Burr, Liz Brown or Adam Fisher.
