Queenborough and Rushenden is a major development area in the former HCA’s Economic Asset Programme and a key component of the Kent and Medway Stewardship Plan. The area has suffered in recent years from under investment and declining historic employment, which has resulted in social, educational and employment deprivation. The HCA / Homes England in partnership with Swale Borough Council (SBC), Kent County Council (KCC) and substantial Central Government funding developed an ambitious regeneration project based around the towns of Queenborough and Rushenden.

The development aims to facilitate future mixed-use development in line with the Queenborough and Rushenden Masterplan. The development area comprises approximately 30 hectares of former heavy industrial land located in a highly sensitive ecological setting. CampbellReith prepared a planning application for the remediation and land raising of these sites. The works comprised the demolition of existing buildings, contamination remediation, ecological mitigation, enhancements to existing flood defences, land raising and utility diversions.

CampbellReith created a GIS Site Model (GISSMo) to gather information relating to every aspect of the Masterplan, across all the different phases of works, together into one central repository. This provides easy access to lots of the documentation and can be searched both geographically and by discipline. As remediation works and land raising approach completion on some of the land parcels, Homes England is looking to sell off those parcels to developers. All the documents relating to a specific geographical area can easily be passed on to the new developer, ensuring information related to the land parcel is retained.
