CampbellReith’s engineers are designing the structures supporting the external displays outside the Albert Hall for the opening premiere of the new James Bond film Spectre, taking place on Monday, 26th of October.

Spectre is the 24th James Bond film and will be the third one to be launched at the Royal Albert Hall, following previous premieres of Die Another Day (2002) and Skyfall (2012) at the venue.

The main feature display is a 40 ft high skeleton – a reference to the film’s opening action sequence set at the Day of the Dead Carnival in Mexico City. One of Mexico’s cultural highlights, the Day of the Dead festival includes a carnival parade of dancing skeletons. The premiere will be attended by the British royalty and celebrities.

The skeleton skull prop was formed by an outer shell of polystyrene, which was foam glued to an internal structure of scaffolding. This internal scaffolding was then tied back to the main stage, and then braced by a portion of scaffolding that stuck out the back of the skull which would be out of sight from the red carpet, and stabilises it from any wind loading.

CampbellReith has also provided temporary structures to 2012 London Olympics, for a wide range of venues including Excel for Boxing, Weightlifting and Table Tennis; Olympic Park for Hockey Arena; The Mall and Horse Guards Parade for Beach Volleyball Arena, etc.

CampbellReith specialises in the design of complex structures and temporary demountable seating systems at major events and shows including the Motorshow, London and Southampton Boat Shows and Ideal Home Show Exhibition. It has authored innovations in venue design and was at the forefront in the development of transparent walled squash courts including the world’s first court to have four unobstructed transparent walls.
