Meet the team

Tom Samson

Associate

I joined CampbellReith as an Associate to lead the Bristol geotechnical team in May 2022 after nine years working for large engineering consultancies (Atkins, HS2 Ltd and Mott MacDonald) primarily in the highways, rail, maritime and water sectors.

I am a chartered civil engineer, a UK Registered Ground Engineering Professional and have broad experience in the detailed design of geotechnical structures, retaining walls, strengthened earthworks, bridge foundations, ground investigation and earthworks.

My most recent experience has been as the geotechnical design lead for the M42 Junction 6 Improvement Scheme in Birmingham. This was a challenging project which included a wide variety of geotechnical design including integral bridge foundations, bored pile underpasses, sheet pile retaining walls, reinforced soil walls, soiled nailed slopes and piled gantry foundations.

I enjoy working as a geotechnical engineer due to the wide variety of projects, challenges and ground conditions and the different teams I get to interact with. No two days are ever the same.

Outside of work I enjoy playing music, reading, trips to the pub and travelling the world.
