I have been told I am an empathetic, ‘people person’, which I believe empowers by strong leadership capability as well as developing relationships with clients and co-professionals, leading to continually working with highly productive teams. However, I am also creative and analytical and enjoy getting stuck into the detail whether business or project related; breaking down problems to find the most efficient and optimised solution.
Although structural engineering has been at the core of my career, my abilities span to leading multidiscipline design and engineering teams on a diverse range of projects: learning more from every team to be a better engineer. I don’t pretend to have all the answers, but leveraging my knowledge and experience I bring significant value to all of my projects: learning more from every team to be a better engineer. Sustainability is something that I am passionate about and that has helped forge my career through many projects leading regenerative development, low carbon innovation through renovation, refurbishment and re-purposing. You can read more about my passions in this article published in 2020 here.
Outside of engineering
I staunchly believe in the concept of ‘enlightened self interest’ as I enjoy down time with my family, snowboarding or sailing when I can. However, much of my “free time” is spent on continued learning, supporting of leading groups that are committed to improving our industry and striving for sustainable, social an environmental equality.
