Liz Brown

Liz is a chartered geologist with a wealth of experience in site investigation and geotechnical engineering. She graduated from Leicester and Heriot-Watt Universities.


Liz is responsible for the development and technical delivery of a team of engineers and engineering geologists providing due diligence, ground investigation and geotechnical design services to internal and external clients around the country. Liz has nearly 30 years’ experience in the assessment and mitigation of geotechnical risk and geotechnical design, having worked for GI contractors before joining CampbellReith in 1999 to set up the geotechnical team. 


She has designed and managed many varied site investigations for projects including regeneration schemes, residential developments, city centre developments and medical, leisure and educational facilities. She is also experienced in geotechnical design and modelling, providing evidence based site appraisals and economic and sustainable recommendations for earthworks, foundations, basements, slope stability and retaining walls, as well as ground movement and damage assessments. 


Liz led the entry that resulted in one of CampbellReith’s projects, a 28.50m deep basement in central London, being named UK Geotechnical Project of the Year (over £15m) in the 2018 Ground Engineering awards. That followed on from her team being named Consulting Firm of the Year in the 2017 GE awards.  


Liz is a keen supporter of mentoring, training and raising the profile of the geotechnical profession helping CampbellReith gain an NCE100 award in 2017 for their commitment to STEM outreach. She is registered with the Women in Property mentoring programme and is a judge in the Women in Construction and Engineering (WICE) and Ground Engineering awards.


In her spare time, Liz is a keen gardener and walker.
