The roof top extension houses four new science laboratories within 500 sqm of additional floor area and allowed the school to convert the older laboratories into teaching spaces.

CampbellReith designed a steel transfer deck bearing onto the existing three storey roof structure in order to support a light weight modular building. The existing structural elements including foundation were checked for the additional loads imposed by the new addition and it was concluded this was within the acceptable limit.

The roof top extension is an excellent example of how modern building techniques allow projects to be completed quickly and efficiently with a minimum of disruption.
