Abener Amenshoa

Associate

Following the completion of my civil engineering degree in July 1998 I worked on numerous high profile residential and commercial development projects as a graduate, project engineer, and later as senior engineer, with Jenkins and Potter and Waterman Partnership. I then spent a year on secondment with Laing O’Rourke on the Ascot Racecourse and grandstand redevelopment in 2005/2006, where I gained the necessary and valuable on-site experience, including temporary works design and supervision of installation, site setting out and small package management.

In 2007 I joined CampbellReith as a senior engineer and became an Associate in 2015. In my role as Associate, I lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams comprised of engineers and technicians and I have been involved in many diverse projects within commercial, residential, student accommodation, education, and health care sectors. I am proud to have worked on the design of the 5-storey-deep basement for the UCLH Proton beam therapy project in London – the second only in the UK. Other significant projects include £21m Windsor House commercial development in Slough, £20m Bedfont Lakes office building alterations and refurbishment, Roof top extension and structural strengthening at 1 Redcliff Street, Bristol. I have also worked on a number of multi-storey student accommodation building projects in Cambridge, Colchester and Norwich, which range in value between £10m to £25m. Other notable projects include Wornington Green, Phase 2 residential development, Elmgrove Primary School and St Joan of Arc school.

Driven by innovation and better systems, I am also the Integrated Management System coordinator for the CampbellReith London office and assist the IMS manager in ensuring compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001 and 14001 accreditations.

I have a strong interest in the collaboration of structural engineering with the wider stake holders in the built environment, which is essential to make a sustainable and positive impact on the lives of communities at a local and global level.

Outside of engineering

I volunteer for local and international charitable organisations that work with various communities and disadvantaged groups. I enjoy traveling and visiting family spread around the world.
