Evangelos Karkanevatos

Senior Structural Engineer

I am a Chartered Engineer and an Associate Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers, with a strong academic background having obtained an MSc from the University of Leeds and an MEng from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. My graduate career started in Leeds with Curtins in 2018 and I was employed by CampbellReith in March 2025 as a Senior Engineer after working with other London consultancies. My project experience varies across multiple sectors, from heritage and conservation engineering working with notable listed structures of national significance, to commercial multi-storey concrete framed buildings and airspace development schemes in the busy London and Leeds markets.

Some of the projects I have worked on include the refurbishment of the Grade II listed Caesar Hotel in Bayswater, the new 8-storey 4 Wellington Place in Leeds and the 3-storey vertical extension of a former textile warehouse in east London.

Since joining CampbellReith I have been involved with the regeneration of the Carpenters Estate in Stratford, the feasibility study for the vertical extension of the Oak Cancer Centre as well as various other projects of varying size and scale. Throughout my career I have enjoyed working in a variety of sectors and find it particularly satisfying to develop efficient and elegant structural solutions tailored to each site. One of the best parts of my role is collaborating with the stakeholders and the design team involved to help them achieve their aspirations and build strong relationships along the way.

Outside of engineering

Outside of work I enjoy a variety of mainstream sports such as football and basketball, attending as many music gigs as physically possible, travelling the world with my partner and doing regular catch ups with my friends and family.
