Asbestos in soils, collaboration with industry bodies

CampbellReith is an active member of SoBRA (Society of Brownfield Risk Assessment). The practice is currently part of the sub-committee responsible for creating the risk assessor accreditation scheme which will form part of the Land Forum’s National Land Quality Assurance Scheme.

This scheme is intended to provide confidence to regulatory bodies when reviewing reports that have been signed by accredited members.

In addition, CampbellReith has contributed to the working group on Risks to Human Health from Asbestos in Soil and chaired a SoBRA Workshop.

The work with SoBRA builds on the practice’s previous work with asbestos in soils done for the award winning Woolston Riverside Project. As a member of the CIRIA (Construction Industry Research and Information Association) Steering Group, CampbellReith has contributed to the CIRIA publication on this topic – ‘Asbestos in soil and made ground: a guide to understanding and managing risks’ (C733).
