Meet the team

Despoina Tsakona

Senior Structural Engineer

Born and raised in Athens, my passion for mathematics and problem-solving has been with me for as long as I can remember. Combining my interest in mathematics and physics with a desire to work in a multidisciplinary field that involves complex problem-solving and creativity, I made the decision to pursue Structural Engineering. This led me to join the Civil Engineering department at the University of Patras, where I obtained my MEng degree as a Structural Engineer.

In 2015, I made the exciting decision to move from sunny Athens to rainy (but charming) London to complete my MSc in Advanced Structural Engineering at Imperial College London. In 2016, I started my professional journey, starting at AECOM and later joining BakerHicks, where I became a chartered engineer. Both companies provided me with opportunities to work on challenging projects, ranging from various types of buildings to a wide range of stages and sectors (including commercial, aviation, residential, life sciences).

My journey continued with a move to CampbellReith in September 2023 as a Senior Structural Engineer. I’m looking forward to collaborating with my new team, working on interesting projects and continuing to grow as a structural engineer!

Outside of engineering

When I’m not busy in the world of structural engineering, I’m off globetrotting (25 countries and counting), striking yoga poses that I pretend to understand, and hanging out with friends. Oh, and there’s the little matter of my family being fanatical Olympiakos supporters. We take football very seriously. In fact, I used to be a football referee back in my university days.
