CampbellReith has been a member of the consultant team to the Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH) emerging Spatial Strategy. This union of local authorities has joined forces to develop sustainable growth in the area, emphasizing on creating homes and jobs. The PUSH Spatial Strategy Position Statement plans the next 20 years of housing in the region: 105,000 new houses to be built between now to 2035.
CampbellReith produced the Sustainability Appraisal and the Habitats Regulations Assessment for the Strategy, as well as Site Appraisals for forthcoming development locations. For this purpose, the Practice used Geographical Information System Site Model (GISSMo), an in-house developed software which offers an interactive geographically searchable database. Its utilisation in the Strategy involved creating special datasets of environmental data within the region, from which the team was then able to create Sustainability Objectives.
Our Environmental and Highways & Transport teams are proud of the contribution made to such a scheme. The development strategy has included extensive consultations with the 13 member local authorities of PUSH, the Environment Agency, Natural England, and statutory services suppliers. The recommendations of the reports will form the basis for the development of the next generation of local plans for the region over the next 20 years.
