Now an expert structural engineer in healthcare, I started my career in 2006, where my first job was the refurbishment of a large Victorian house where I gained the valuable skill of coordinating with contractors whilst managing the challenges on site. These skills were essential for when I took on my next big project – façade retention to an historic building for new retail space in Oxford Street.

My passion for healthcare projects developed whilst working on the refurbishment of Lewisham Hospital. Realising that, as engineers, we can make a difference to the provision of healthcare, drives me to deliver the best service for our clients. Since the Lewisham project, I have led on many large healthcare schemes, including the complex and magnificent UCLH Proton Beam Therapy Centre. Here I have had the opportunity to work with the industries leading construction consultants and designers. It really is rewarding to see your designs become a reality. One of my most profound moments was standing at the base of the excavation for the 30m deep basement at this project left me awestruck and understand how luck we are to do the work we do.

In 2016, I was shortlisted Female Structural Engineer of the Year and I was honoured to be among the sector’s leading females. It helped me realise that the ongoing promotion and investment for women engineers is working.

At CampbellReith I also lead the ExCel’s temporary structures team. Due to its very nature, we are a vibrant, dynamic and fast-moving team where accuracy is critical for compliance and safety.

Outside of engineering

I love singing. I am a member of the Stratford East Singers and singing Chaka Khan and Stormzy after a long day really lifts the spirits! I am also a keen baker, my specialty being carrot cake.
