Capgemini, a major IT and Data Centre consultant and operator, identified demand for a new data-centre in Swindon area, with onsite auxiliary facilities, security upgrade and standby power supply generation on site installed to support the development of this new building.
This £20m project comprised structural alternations and strengthening and fit out of an existing large warehouse portal frame, to house a series of modular high tech, state of the art, low energy data centre facilities.
CampbellReith provided structural, civil and geotechnical services for the project. The services included detailed design check on the existing steel frames and structures to support the new equipment and cablings, strengthening work to the existing and design of the new steel support frame to allow facades alternation for ventilation and security requirement.
As there was no As Built record design information, CampbellReith carried out soil and structural investigation to establish design parameter to achieve cost effective design solutions.
