This was a £25m Private Finance Initiative (PFI) project at Kingston Hospital, providing wards, physiotherapy facilities, restaurants, seminar rooms and a library.
CampbellReith was appointed to provide structural, civil, geotechnical, environmental and transportation design services for the project.
The new building was constructed utilising a reinforced concrete flat slab structure that provides uninterrupted services distribution zones.
In addition to the on-site works, CampbellReith undertook a detailed traffic analysis of the busy Kingston Hill Road and junctions around the hospital. After successful liaison with statutory authorities, all Section 278 Agreement (Highways Act) off-site highways modifications that were considered necessary to support the expansion of Kingston Hospital, were designed and implemented.
