Caleys, Windsor

CampbellReith provided Highpoint Estates with a wide range of engineering services for the £15m redevelopment of the former Caleys department store in Windsor. The collection of listed buildings is important not only in appearance but also in the public memory of the store that traded from 1826 to 2006. The redevelopment will provide nearly 65,000 ft2 of new retail space over three floors and the creation of a new 150 bedroom budget hotel on the upper floors. A new superstructure will strengthen the listed exterior. The work is made up of reinforced concrete at basement and ground floor levels with steel-reinforced concrete floor slabs above. Some of the features of this project include:

  • Minimising structural depths to add a storey/maximise building
  • Works within historic building
  • Maximising the site
